Our intrepid photographer went back stage at some of the best shows in New York over the weekend to give you a glimpse of what we’ll all be wearing next season. Take a look at our favourites and get inspired for SS10…
She's known throughout the industry for her sweet, dreamy aesthetic, and Featherston didn't disappoint this season, sending thirty-six pieces of perfect fashion whimsy down the runway. From cherry-blossom-prints on silk chiffons, to bambi-inspired hotpants, the show was a fond homage to happy memories of childhood trips. Plunging necklines cut into flowing fabrics created a prim look underpinned with innocent allure. Our favourite bit? The simply stunning cornflower silk dress. We're desperate to get our hands on one of her fabulous headpieces too!
Varsity met extreme cool at Alexander Wang and the air was thick with sporty grey sweatshirts, given his own inimitable twist. With a bevy of followers that includes all the city's movers and shakers, Wang produced a collection that combined effervescent youth and playfulness with solid fabrics and his signature down-town style. Cropped jersey and knotted waists harked back to the running track while a muted palette of reds, whites, blues and Earthy tones gave outfits a nostalgic feel. Sign us up now for the thick grey waistcoat!
Bared midriffs, exposed legs, and feather-light fabrics sashayed down the catwalk at Wasson's show. The style was thrown-together, the look effortless and the result, a coming together of femininity and boyish looks. Her experience as a model in the industry means that her collection drew on model chic – think off-duty girls in loose tees and love-worn denim. Skin peeked through slashed jersey, smart fabrics sat alongside battered ones and the rock-and-roll vibe was tangible. We're already channelling the loose draping and have fallen head-over-heels for her brilliant 'Keep it Neil' t-shirts. Inspired!
