Oh Rodarte, you are a dream come true. Which is appropriate for a collection inspired by sleepwalking. A concrete catwalk and two enormous white wax sculptures that doubled as candles got us in the mood for an ethereal experience.
A sumptuous array of clothing in myriad fabrics sauntered by, draped about bodies and trimmed with ribbon and crochet galore. Texture enveloped pattern; fringes, folds and ruffles over florals, checks and stripes. The thrown-together feel was palpable and one we’re excited to try out at home! We feel in love instantly with the Mulleavy sisters’ fantastical knits and patchworked wrap skirts, and heavy swathes of draped fabric had us weak at the knees.
Add a bucket-load of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes into the mix and we’re practically -almost literally – swooning. Shoulders are staying big at Rodarte for AW10, while faces are pale and the skirt rules supreme.
