Generous as always, we’re yet again revealing the talented folk who work behind the scenes at Topshop HQ. This week we caught up with the lovely Aida Nasser, CRM Assistant, to talk about her amazing job, her fashion staples and what’s on her iPod…
My job title is… CRM Assistant.
And that means… I analyse how Topshop customers behave online and in response to our marketing email campaigns.
I studied… a Masters in Marketing and Communications in London, after my first degree in Political Science & Communication in Milan.
I got my job by… initially focusing on getting the right experience in the right industries through internships.
In a typical working day I… start by checking my emails and my to-do list. I check our CRM calendar to make sure our marketing emails are sent out at the appropriate time. The rest of my day is mainly spent work on different reports that track customer behaviour for different types of campaigns.
The best thing about my job is… that there is so much experience in our company. I learn new things everyday from the people I work with.
When I was growing up I wanted to be… a fashion designer like my mother. Unfortunately, I didn’t have her talent!
I couldn’t do my job without… the people around me and my cappuccino before getting out of bed in the morning.
My advice to students hoping to crack the fashion industry would be… get as much experience as you can – even while you are still studying. Nothing beats having relevant experience on your CV when you are looking for a job to start your career full-time.
My signature style is… a mix of classic basics and edgy new fashion.
When I’m in London, my hottest hang-outs are… the Saatchi and Saatchi gallery close to Sloane Square. I love to see the new exhibitions there and it’s all free. Then I can get a gelato from Amorino, my favourite ice-cream shop in London.
And when I’m in my hometown I love hanging out at… any bar for a summer aperitivo in the sun.
I can’t live without… my bicycle, I use it to go to work and it’s the best way to travel around London.
My favourite magazine is… Grazia. It has the right mix of fashion, gossip and trends.
I love grabbing my lunch from… ABOKADO – I always choose the sushi box.
On my iPod right now is… Coldplay, Rihanna and Queen.
As a special treat, I love to… go to the spa for a manicure and pedicure.
In five years I’d like to be… growing in my career whilst working from a Topshop office in New York.
