Our London Fashion Week show isn’t JUST about the jaw-dropping fashion, game-changing beauty and so-now supermodels… This season Topshop Unique was held at the Tate Modern, the iconic power station-turned-art gallery on the banks of the River Thames. Our purpose built catwalk took over the gallery’s iconic Turbine hall, allowing guests to enjoy the new AW14 collection against a backdrop of dramatic high ceilings and sun-soaked windows, making it one of our must stunning show spaces yet!
What’s more, the whole thing was live streamed to our Oxford Circus flagship, where lucky competition winners sat in the shop windows to watch the show in 3D, using innovative virtual reality googles to make it feel like they were right there in the Tate. High tech or what?!
With all this going on it’s no wonder our shows attracts some of the coolest in fashion land and this season was no exception with everyone from rapper M.I.A, to Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams and model Poppy Delevingne making an appearance. Most heads turned when the legendary Kate Moss breezed through the Turbine Hall to the amazement of the public spending a quiet Sunday at the Tate! Kate arrived with her little sis Lottie in tow and the pair chatted away next to Kendall Jenna, our very own Phillip Green and Vogue veteran Anna Wintour on the front row.
Of course the IT-girls and singing sensations were also about, including DJ-socialites Harley Viera-Newton, Atlanta de Cadanet and Chelsea Leyland, plus Scandi singer MØ and new popstress on-the-block Foxes. Dressed in some standout Topshop pieces from gingham shirts to snakeskin jackets, the girls looked amazing and we couldn’t help thinking this fivesome would make the most awesome girl band ever!
Fashion insiders like Alexander Fury, Laura Weir and Fran Burns also came to cast their vote on the collection, alongside a gaggle of bloggers like Susie Bubble, dressed top-to-toe in crazy colour combos guaranteed to make even the most serious fash editors beam. Similarly eye-cathing was model Chloe Norgaard, whose rainbow hair was sporting a good four colours today!
All our guests were treated to bubbles, roast beef sarnies and chocolate fudge cake at out Topshop café on arrival, enjoying the views of the Tate as they mingled with their fellow style setters. Or those after a more healthy way to get through Fashion Month opted for the yummy carrot, beetroot and apple juices on offer; the perfect detox after all the New York Fashion Week parties!
After the show the style set sipped on more bubbles (joined by model Sam Rolinson after a quick post-show change) and the entire venue was filled with excited chatter about how awe-inspiring the collection was.
