Can anyone really get enough of navy? If you’re Paula Gerbase, then the answer is 100% no! Get the skinny on the simply beautiful NEWGEN designer’s show that we marvelled at live from The School of Tropical and Medical Science in London’s Euston….
Who… 1205. Paula Gerbase is the Saville Row trained tailor turned designer behind the label. Notoriously press shy this is Gerbase’s debut catwalk as a recipient of the NEWGEN initiative.
Front row… Sarah Mower and Alexander Fury took prime position as long-time NEWGEN supporters but it was the unexpected face of Vogue International Editor Hamish Bowles who had everyone talking.
The girls on the catwalk… Strong and natural, but not only girls! Storm’s Benjamin Allen showed off a unisex navy polo neck to perfection.
In five words… Comfortably modern and classically chic.
What we loved… How wearable it all looked. We envisioned idyllic mornings waking up and throwing on those perfect grey jersey dresses with no sweat and pairing the comfy black speckled slacks with the simple plum pullovers.
Hair and make-up... Elongated cats eye flicks that started at the end of the lid and super dewy skin. Hair was classically Paula simple middle partings. Just like us Topshop girls wear everyday!
Playlist… What we termed “electro-plinky-plonky music” basically super sharp minimalist tunes to focus us in on the girls in front of.
Hero piece… The slouchy new take on the boiler suit. Super low slung and naturally in navy with enough fabrics for you to curl up or stretch out it.
Inspired by… The word is out on the direct inspiration but Paula Gerbase is a womenswear designer that truly designs with real women in mind. No towering heels or ridiculous cuts, just simplicity and beauty in the perfect cuts and wearable colours.
End Notes… We definitely need more navy jumpers.
