Who… Ryan Lo, the Pied Piper of fashion’s ultra-girls.
Where… In the Tate Modern turbine hall straight after the Unique show. The girls arranged themselves in a sugar-coated Wild West tableau. Everyone gathered around to watch as they shot toy guns at one another and danced to songs from the Kill Bill soundtrack.
Front row… Everyone from M.I.A to Anna Wintour got to take in Lo’s cowgirl spectacle as they made their way out of the Topshop Unique show.
The collection in five words…. Walking talking sparkling living dolls.
What we loved… The quilted metallic skirt suits were totally glitter-ballin’, and would look just as cool worn separately with a t-shirt and trainers as they were worn all together. A long and slinky knitted dress with silver buttons down the front screamed Coco Chanel in the Thirties, while the semi-sheer sparkly dresses made us want to hit the disco.
Hero piece… An enormous stole made of lilac tulle flowers and trimmed with white marabou was made to bring out our inner sugarplum fairy.
Hair loving… Little Miss Perfect blow-outs with sweet and innocent hair slides to pin back shiny locks.
Beauty notes… Blushing cheeks, rosy lips and soft skin.
End notes… Although we missed Ryan Lo’s overt face painting, we were happy to see yet another odd reference in the form of pageant queens and the wild west made made us very happy.
