In case you hadn’t noticed, ’70s style is having a bit of a moment. Our SS15 collection is packed with key throwback pieces, from psychedelic floral prints, to pussybow blouses and flares. But, we’re not just feeling the far-out vibes when it comes to fashion – ’70s is having a major moment in culture too. So, if you’re ready to take the retro love in next-level, here’s three totally groovy things to do:
1. WATCH: INHERENT VICE
Boogie Nights director Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest on-screen masterpiece is a groovy (a favourite word of the cast) flashback of the ‘60s/’70s, full of dreamy fashion that’s guaranteed to inspire our festival wardrobes this season. Based in California Beach, the film follows private detective Larry “Doc” Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix) as he embarks on a mission to find his ex-lover Shasta (Katherine Waterson) when she mysteriously vanishes. While we’re still daydreaming about Katherine Waterson’s orange crochet dress and Reese Witherspoon’s cute co-ords – the mutton chops comeback is still questionable…
In cinemas from 30 January 2015. Watch the trailer here.
2. GO: THEA PORTER: BOHEMIAN CHIC, AT THE FASHION AND TEXTILE MUSEUM
If there was ever a pioneer of ’70s style, it was Thea Porter. Known for the innovative fashion and interior design sold at her famous Greek street store, her fans ranged from The Beatles to Elizabeth Taylor and Faye Dunaway. Spend a day immersed in her eclectic world in a new retrospective spanning her creations, career and travels.
Running from 6 February – 3 May, 2015. Head here for more info.
3. PIN: FARRAH FAWCETT
The 2nd February marks what would have been the 68th birthday of original Charlie’s Angel and ’70s icon Farrah Fawcett AKA your new pinspiration. Think old school sportswear, fanned out hair and some strong flare wearing game.
